Our philosophy

We answer to the horse.

No horse is rushed here, and none is forgotten once their racing days are behind them. We breed for soundness and a level head, and we let each horse show us who they are before we ask a single thing of them.

We keep the string small, small enough to know each horse by the sound of their feet in the shedrow and the look in their eye at feed time. That closeness is the point of the whole thing. It's how good decisions get made, one horse at a time, working alongside the respected farms, trainers, veterinarians, and bloodstock professionals who give every horse their very best opportunity to succeed.

Where the work
finally runs.

Race day lasts a couple of minutes, and we wait all year for them. It's the heart of American thoroughbred racing and the reason we get up in the dark, the moment a horse we raised does the very thing they were born to do, with the people we love standing right beside us.

The silks

The colors
we send to the post.

A set of silks is a small thing until a horse is wearing them and the gate springs. After that they're the most important colors on the track, at least to us.

A gold crown and laurel crest over the barn's monogram - stitched with everything we hope for a horse, and the day you see them lead the field home is the day all of this is worth it.

Our story

How we came to the horses.

A horse can take hold of you and never quite let go. That's how Bushman Thoroughbreds began, and it's why we keep at it.

What we're building is a long-term racing and breeding operation, run by a family with the patience to do it slowly and the love to do it right. We invest in Thoroughbreds because we believe in the animal, and because there's nothing else we'd rather give our years to.
