Racing with purpose
& passion.

Somewhere in a horse is the wish to be in front. Racing is how we let them find out. Our thoroughbred racing program exists to give that instinct a fair stage, asking each horse for their best and never for more than they hold.

A race is a short, vigorous exam on months of quiet work. The running takes two minutes. The answer it gives has been years in the making.

We run a small string, and we are particular about it. Every piece of racing activity we commit to is chosen the way a mating is chosen in consultation with trainer Jena Antonucci, for this horse and this moment, and for no other reason.

Ours is a small thoroughbred racing operation, and we keep a plain measure of a good day: the horse ran their race and walked off it sound. Wins come, when they come, out of that discipline and a good team around every runner, never out of pushing a horse past itself.

How we campaign a horse.

    The right race

    Half the skill of training is picking the race. We read the conditions and the company, and send a horse to post only when the shape of the day suits the shape of the horse.

    Longevity over haste

    A horse has only so many hard runs in them, and we spend them like money we can't earn back. When a start would take more than it gives, we wait.

  • 03

    Welfare, always

    No result is worth a horse. That sentence sounds obvious until the money and the pride are on the line, and it is exactly then that we hold to it hardest.

    Shared with our people

    Nobody remembers a great day alone. The point of a winner's circle is who is standing in it with you, and we make sure the people we love are never watching from far away.

Trace any race back far enough and you reach a cold morning in an empty barn. That is where it is really won, long before the gate ever opens.

A set of silks is a small flag the Bushman family plants on a horse's back. Ours carries a crown and a laurel, symbols for the will to win and the honor of earning it.

We carry two sets - a black-body primary and a white-body set, the latter worn only when racing in New York.
